CoMotion 2025 Branding

Branding Works

2025

I worked as the graphic design art director for CoMotion, collaborating with a team to create a visual identity centered around transformation, symbolized by a moth, with deliverables including t-shirt designs, brochures, AR thank-you cards, and promotional posters, all enhanced with animation for an immersive experience.

CoMotion is the world’s largest student-run motion design conference, bringing together industry professionals for two days of panels, mixers, and portfolio reviews at Savannah College of Art and Design. This year, I had the privilege of serving as the graphic design art director, leading a team to develop a visual identity for the event.

Our process began with brainstorming sessions with the creative directors and design teams, where we worked on the student showcase title cards. After solidifying the design, I collaborated with the lead to divide the iterations and create guidelines, ensuring a cohesive look across all materials. I also contributed to delivering various assets. Including t-shirt designs, brochures, AR thank-you cards, and promotional posters.

The branding concept for CoMotion revolved around the theme of transformation, represented through the symbolism of a moth. The design was divided into three chapters: Choose, Face, and Become. Each chapter depicted a phase of growth, with the moth evolving from a symbol of potential to one of change and final self-realization.

The AR card and print materials bridged the physical and digital realms, enhancing the event's immersive experience. The interactive AR card allowed attendees to engage with the event's narrative in a dynamic way, while the print materials provided lasting connections. Working through multiple design stages, our team developed a cohesive illustration style with intricate linework and flowing shapes to visually express the journey of transformation. The final designs were then brought to life through animation by the animation team.
