Hong Kong Eatery: 3D Look Development Study
3D Tech Works
2025
A moody, cinematic 3D recreation of a Hong Kong dim sum restaurant. inspired by Fallen Angels and the city’s 1980s atmosphere.

This piece was one of my final projects for my 3D Look Development class, inspired by the nostalgic atmosphere of 1980s Hong Kong. The goal was to recreate a dim sum restaurant scene that feels like someone just stepped away mid-meal — complete with steamers, buns, teapots, and chopsticks.
I focused on capturing realism through food materials, aged furniture, and subtle surface details that reveal the environment’s history and warmth. Everything was modeled in Autodesk Maya and textured using Adobe Substance Painter, with rendering and look development done in Cinema 4D.
Tools: Autodesk Maya, Cinema 4D, Adobe Substance Painter
Guidance: Professor Hannah Kuehn
